User Reviews about elago Mobile Nano II USB 2.0 microSDHC Flash Memory Card Reader (Black)
I bought two of these to use with my new car stereo's front USB port. I just ordered two more. I agree with all the other positive reviews. This is the coolest USB data storage out there. Currently have 8GB memory cards installed. Flawless operation. I just bought another 8 and 16GB micro SD. I have a couple of the cheaper plastic micro SD sticks and there is no comparison. -- A Marvel of Miniaturization
I bought this product a couple of weeks ago, and I'm very happy with it. Installation (basically inserting the microsd card) was very easy, and I was able to start using the reader immediately after purchasing. The cap fits snuggly, and it does feel like it's going to come off unless I take it off. Threading the lanyard was a little tricky, though, and the string became frayed after the first try to push it through. I ended up using a needle threader to do it, and that worked well.
I definitely recommend this product, especially if you carry a lot of files around with you. Best of all, if it stops working, buy another reader and you still have the data. If you run out of space, buy a larger data card. And it's also a great conversation starter, difficult to imagine the storage capacity (y bought a 16gb card to go with it) when compared to regular usb thumb drives. As a friend put it: "it's not the size that matters, it's the amount of gigabytes!". -- Great reader, incredibly small!!
Received this little drive with 2 day free shipping from Amazon (BTW came in a box meant to store 3 DVDs, way too big) and was amazed by how small it is and how ergonomically designed it it. Putting the micro card IN the unused space on the USB port is brilliant. And the build quality? I don't think it'll ever break (compared to my last one, which was all plastic Sandisk MobileMate Micro SD & M2 Reader (SDDR-121, Bulk Package) and broke after being on my key chain for about 2 months...)
Anyways, great reader.
Also, used the trick someone posted on the pics about drilling a hole in the cap. Works great! Thanks! -- Best Micro Reader out there!
I am always on the go and I do quite a bit of work on laptops and netbooks. I found that most thumb drives stuck out far enough on a laptop that while using the computer on my lap were perched very dangerously and I always risked snapping off the 1-2 inch thumb drive. Moreover, I always had to remove the drive before storing it in a container. After buying a mouse with a very small USB adapter I that I could store without removing it became obvious that I needed a storage device that I wouldn't have to remove every single time I stored my computer (which was four or five times a day). There aren't many choices, however this is perfect for my needs. It's fairly flush with my computer and I don't need to remove it every time I store my computer.
If you use a laptop or netbook and you are always on the go, buy this drive and a good micro SD card before thinking about spending the same amount of money on a huge, easy-to-break thumb drive. -- The best MicroSD card reader I have, doubles as mini thumb drive
