The PROS
NOTE FOR BATTERY GRIP
So for the Battery grip . The camera sling pictured in the product images fits the camera body only quite nicely. Of course when you add the Battery grip you're asking for some trouble. BUT, simple solution, take the plunge and cut the cradle carefully to fit the larger camera profile and it works! I reinforced my customisation with some foam bits, gaffer's tape and some extra velcro and it is for sure just as sturdy as before. Of course, Case Logic would not want you to do this and I take no responsibility if you mess up, I am simply explaining how I made it all fit. So of course, Do this at your own risk and of course this probably voids the warranty but hey! I find it protects the camera very well while isolating it from travel vibrations and bumps, and I'm quite happy with my customization.
The bag itself is well padded and stands up straight when you get it balanced correctly. The lens tubes are well padded and I would supplement with a little bit of bubble wrap or foam inside just to minimize scratching. This bag will fit so many things in every nook and cranny as my list testifies...
You can change the position of the lens tubes and platforms, for ultimate customisation, which I find very useful as I like my lenses on top for easy access.
Travel Readiness Report:
To give you an idea i used this bag to travel from St. Louis to Chicago on Bus (carrying it with me of course), then Chicago to San Francisco as a carry-on. San Francisco to DC ditto.... DC to New York (again by bus) and then New York to Paris by bus... okay kidding, by plane. It has worked marvelously and has not a mark on it.
I highly, highly recommend this bag. It works fantastically for all my gear even though it is quite heavy.
CONS
I would have to recommend springing for a nicer shoulder pad as there is NONE included. I'm ordering a Domke Postal shoulder pad (might update this review when I get it)
Because of the amount of stuff that can fit inside I would reccomend this as an organizer/large job bag. I have a smaller shoulder holster for when I need to travel light.
That's all I have for the moment but good luck, and happy photo hunting. -- Well constructed and fits more than you could possibly imagine
I think this is the first bag I have that carries all my gear and looks great too!
I can fit 1 SLR body with long lens attached (70-200) and 3 extra lenses. plus flash extra stuff and tripod!! highly recommended -- great cheap bag
This is a well constructed and well designed case. It fits most SLR accessories, and even has a hard-mold sleeve to hold the SLR for extra protection. I've not really seen any other cases like this. Case Logic really has done a good job with the design of this piece. -- Good quality bag
I have had this bag for about a month now and am really enjoying it. I carry in it a digital rebel with battery grip, extra lense, small video camera ,chargers for both, and a small digital point and shoot. Everything fits in well, no cramming and everything is easily accessible. The bag itself is stylish and doesn't look like a camera bag. It is not square and bulky. Construction appears to be well done. I haven't had a problem. I like that the front has a zippered flap for easy access to thing placed lower in the bag. Very nice bag. -- Great bag
This is a nice hard protective case for your camera. It's super comfortable and easy to load and unload. The strap is what makes is so comfy! It hold my Sony with the 300 mm on the camera with out removing it every time, and two side blocks for you flash and another lens! There are also several zipper compartments too for little stuff! -- This bag is wonderful!
