User Reviews about 32-IN-1 Card Reader USB
The 32- in - 1 Card Reader is easy to use and works very well. We have had no problems with it and highly recommend it. -- Works great!
Note: the specs here at Amazon say this has 4 USB ports, but it only has 3.
Pros:
- It's a card reader plus 3 port USB hub combo, so you're net +2 ports with this plugged in.
- The online specs are skimpy, but this reader supports assorted CF formats, Memory Stick formats, SD formats, MMC formats, XD formats, SM. 32 in all. Sorry I don't want to hand-type all the flavors of each in.
- Colored light cycles between red, pink, white, aqua, green purple, blue, orange. Lots of bright colors with a smooth transition between them.
Cons:
- Has a 5V DC input (for supporting power-hungry devices), but no AC adapter is provided.
- The USB dongle for my MX Revolution mouse didn't work right when plugged into this hub, until I installed the included driver software. USB hubs shouldn't need driver software to work correctly, IMHO.(Oddly enough, it read my CF card fine without installing the driver software).
- The 4 card slots permanently show up as drives in Windows Explorer, wheher or not any media is connected (ie: like a floppy drive, rather than only showing when media is connected like a USB thumb drive). At least the drives are labeled by type and have custom icons in Explorer.
Other:
Online info on this product is rather skimpy, but I decided to chance it. So I had somewhat low expectations, but I've been pleasantly surprised for the most part.
My only real concern was the need for the driver software to get the USB ports to work correctly, which makes me a bit suspicious.
The color cycling is cooler looking than I expected it to be, but I suspect I might get tired of it eventually. Note also that if it's plugged into an extrenally powered hub, it will continue to glow even when the PC is powered off.
-- Not bad
